On our way to North Carolina to work Habitat for Humanity in Minneapolis North Carolina, we stopped in Tennessee to visit with retired pastor Harold Zart who was our pastor at Coon Rapids until 1979. We stayed at Candlestick Park retreat center in Minneapolis NC and had a wonderful experience. We Met Chad, Jill and family, they are the directors of the retreat center and Chad is the youth minister at the home church first Baptist of Minneapolis.
One team was sent to work on Habitat for Humanity, they did roofing, outside finishing work and siding the house and worked also on an outdoor shed. and the other team worked at the camp; where a new fire pit was constructed, a swing set was removed and cleaned up, building the benches for the fire pit (that was great learning experience for the youth) Thanks Daner for the design and idea! All the bathrooms were cleaned. Prepped and painted. The dining hall was clean and pained and the floors were all redone. We worked hard!
We split our group up into three separate groups and set out to worship at three different churches, Minneapolis United Methodist church, The Christian Church of Minneapolis, and the Baptist church we stayed at. It was wonderful. We made so many new friends in the faith. We sang at the retreat center and also at another Baptist church in another community, they invited to share in Devotions with them on Wednesday and to have a pool-pizza party, we all had a wonderful time. We spent a day at the river and falls near Minneapolis, and a day at the Mountains we went to the top of Grandfather Mountain. Gods Creatation was Magnificent! Eileen Miles, Cindy Plum, Sherry Wesdorf and Cindi Foster were the trip planners. Our musical was Amplfy
